ADENOMYOSIS MONTH

7th April 2021 No Comments

Adenomyosis (Ad-uh-no-my-O-sis) occurs when the tissue which usually lines the uterus (endometrial tissue) grows into the muscular walls of the uterus. During a  Menstrual cycle, it could cause symptoms such has heavy or prolonged Menstrual bleeding,  chronic pelvic pain, Extreme sharp pelvic pains- dysmenorrhoea, back pain, pain in legs, blood clots, headaches due to anemia.

In all of these I also have fatigued, have abdominal pain and perineum pain, can barely get out of bed some days. Irritated and having mood swings.

Asides pain management, only real solution is having a hysterectomy.  For me I have held back on this as I really want to have children. But there are days I ask myself why I let this disease torture me so much.

I have lived with it for almost 30years and only got diagnosed after over 20yeats of suffering from it.

Even now, getting the right medications is still a nightmare. I feel like I go through labour each month. I have contractions from the pain , high fever and get nauseous some months.
